Palomino AQHA

Peppy came to live with us after being purchased by Don Adams at the summer sale in Fort Worth. She is sired by Peppy Boy 895, the sire of my favorite superstar cutting mare in the past decade, Shania Cee. She was bred by Dick Codgell and is out of an old Lance Jones daughter.

I showed Peppy in the $5000 limit classes on the Alberta Reined Cowhorse circuit, and was lucky enough to win my first cutting buckle. The following winter I rode her in the winter series at Blacklands Ranch, and won the non-pro for the series. We did show her at some NCHA approved shows as well, so she does have some NCHA recorded earnings.

We have 2 foals out of Peppy, her first one is a 3 year old filly by My Own League and is in training right now.  Unfortunately she aborted the following year. We have a gorgeous yearling filly by her by My Own League as well. She is listed in the for sale page. Peppy is in foal this year again to My Own League.

“Ginny” came to our place after we attended the thorobred sale last fall in Edmonton. We had owned a Son Of Briarctic mare previously, and had a very nice colt from her and My Own League. Unfortunately we lost that mare, and we never dreamed we would find another.

Along came Ginny. She has won over $190,000.00 on the track, and has produced money earners as well. Although she is up in years, she is in foal, looks great, and has fit right in. We think this line is a great outcross with My Own League. The colt mentioned earlier by the other Son Of Briartic mare and My Own League, was reserve at the 2005 Canadian Snaffle Bit Futurity, earning him just over $4000.00, and proving that a thorobred outcross can work!

“Kitty” is by a son of Storm Cat, Ciano Cat , sire of earners over $600,000.00. She is out of Tabola Gin, so as you can see, we liked the old Tabola Gin so much we just had to buy this daughter of hers. She is a very nice looking mare, one would have a hard time picking her out at the thorobred on our farm. She is a nice size, about 15.1, nice, long hip on her, and super low strong hocks. She had one start and earned $3528.00.

In foal to Weekend Guest for this year, and then she will be bred to either My Own League or Mr. Roan Freckles, haven’t quite decided yet! I am really looking forward to seeing what this girl will produce for us in years to come.

Bay AQHA (appendix)

Bonnie was born here on our farm. She is a big soggy mare, has huge foals, and is a super mom. We have had one My Own League baby out of her, a filly that is 3 this year, and a yearling Mr Roan Freckles stud colt. She is bred back to Mr. Roan Freckles for 2006. Her yearling red roan colt is on the for sale page.

Everyone loves Bonnie, she is just one of “those” mares. The first one to come up in the pasture and say hi.

We are not sure if Shadow is going to take up broodmare status or not yet, but I thought I would ad her for now. We will likely be breeding her this spring. She is by My Own League, and out of a big Kits Moon Shadow mare .She is my mom’s “special “ one as she was orphaned at 8 days, and mom took over the mares job. Thankfully we did have our mini/pony “peanuts” at that time, and he did a great job of letting Shadow know she was a horse, so we did avoid the typical “orphan, spoiled rotten” syndrome.

This mare is absolutely drop dead gorgeous. She is 15 hands( or a bit better), dark bay, a head to die for, and very athletic. We did show her at the Canadian Supreme in the open Snaffle Bit Futurity, but in all fairness to her, she was way behind in her training program. She can literally run a hole in the wind, and I have had more than one barrel racer asking about her. She was fairly cowy as well. Just a little on the sensitive side.
